Leadership
The nurturing of leaders is central to the development of young people at Somerset College. Keeping the philosophy 'everyone is a leader' at the forefront of the school's educational policy, the Outdoor Education Programme serves to highlight this attitude, as do the various leadership structures and training programmes within the school.
Student leaders are elected and appointed in their Matric year and lead eight Portfolio groupings, through which students are exposed to all forms of leadership available at their level, and are given the opportunity to lead, manage, and excel in all areas of school life.
Sports and cultural leadership complements leadership in all of these areas, and young people are nurtured and developed in this critical component.
