Sport

Physical development plays an important role in the social, emotional and intellectual development of a child. With the emphasis on participation, there are physical education sessions, where pupils experiment with movement in relation to their environment, and sports sessions, where they learn about different sports and practise a wide range of skills that prepare them for sport at a more competitive level.

Pupils also take part in sports festivals with other schools and, when they are ready, they may compete in fixtures against other schools.

Sport is compulsory from Grades 3 to 7

In Summer We Offer

Cricket, mini-cricket, tennis, athletics and swimming

Our Teams

We are regularly among the most successful in the area, and we are proud to have produced a number of provincial players. We do not focus only on talented sports players, but strive to include every pupil.

Winter Sports Include

Netball, tennis, hockey, rugby and cross country

Practice Times

At present, sport practice sessions take place four days a week from 14:00 to 15:00, with after-hour squad practice to allow players to refine their skills in preparation for matches.

Tours

Tours are also an important facet of school sport and effort is taken to allow as many children as possible, the opportunity to undertake such a tour.

Our Sports Outlook

Because we know that not everyone can be a great sportsman or woman, we recognise effort and personal achievement and place the emphasis of our sports training firmly on FUN, DISCIPLINE and COMMITMENT. Without these three factors, pupils are unable to improve their individual skills, and our teams are unable to perform at the desired level. With them in place, we achieve success and both children and parents are proud to represent their school.
