Somerset College Preparatory places great emphasis on the professional development of our staff,
encouraging each member to attend the annual seminars run by NAPTOSA. Several of our teachers are
also given the opportunity to attend conferences and workshops, such as the ISASA Primary Schools
Conference, the ISASA Librarians' Conference, Proactive Leadership and various other seminars
on aspects of teaching. In addition to this, a number of our staff members are furthering their studies at University.
Internal staff training is also one of our priorities, and to this end, we regularly host workshops and
talks which over the past year have dealt with topics such as Bullying, Emotional Intelligence, Eating
Disorders, and Competitive Sport. In 2006 the Preparatory hosted its first conference, "The Instant Child -
Teaching the Millennial Generation", which drew 200 teachers from all over the country.
