About Us
Somerset College, set on 32ha against the backdrop of the breathtaking Helderberg and Stellenbosch mountain ranges, close to Somerset West, is home to a Pre-primary , Preparatory and Senior School. Founded in 1997, today Somerset College has a combined enrolment of nearly 900 students and a staff of 120.
Offering a broad and balanced educational programme, Somerset College is set in beautiful, secure surroundings in which young people from Pre-primary (age 3) to Matric (Grade 12) are able to learn and build relationships with their peers, while cultivating a sound, disciplined work ethic. Teachers are facilitators rather than instructors; students take responsibility for their own learning, and at Senior School level, enhance the skills they will need in tertiary institutions and the workplace.
Once they leave to make their own way in the world, they will be able to do so with pride, safe in the knowledge that their education has prepared them as fully as possible for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
