Somerset College is overseen by a Board of Governors, made up primarily of parents of current students. The Board, under the leadership of the Chair, is responsible for setting a strategic focus for the school, and for ensuring that this direction is followed by all members of staff. This strategic vision is both dynamic and developing, and is revisited every two years.

The Board delegates authority and decision-making to sub-committees comprised of Board members and senior management. Committees such as Education, Buildings and Grounds, Finance, Diversity and Marketing meet regularly and assist the Board and the Headmasters in managing the school.
