Subject Choices
In Grades 8 & 9 students take the following subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Human and Social Sciences
- Arts and Culture
- Life Orientation
- Technology
- Afrikaans
- Natural Sciences
- Information Technology
- Music
- Economic and Management Sciences (EMS)
In addition they choose one third language, either French, German or Xhosa.
In Grades 10, 11 & 12 Compulsory Subjects Include:
- English
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
- Afrikaans
- Life Orientation
(Those exempted from Afrikaans, take Life Sciences.)
A further three subjects are chosen from the following:
- Physical Science
- Consumer Studies
- Geography
- French
- Dramatic Arts
- Visual Arts (Includes painting, screen-printing, ceramics or graphics)
- History
- Life Sciences
- Information Technology
- German
- Accounting
- Music
Advanced Programme Mathematics (APM) may be taken as an optional eighth subject.
All students are encouraged during their last three years to complete the ICDL (International Computer Driver's Licence), an internationally recognised computer literacy course.
